Opening reception for Artist Ken Hawkey's exhibit, "A Journey through Beach Point"

Sunday, August 1, 3pm – 6pm

The exhibit features twenty-seven new works in acrylic and oils, all of which help tell the story of this special neighborhood that bridges Truro and Provincetown. To accompany the paintings, Hawkey has compiled an impressive historical narrative. Beach Point's unique geographical, cultural, social and economic qualities are illuminated through the paintings and their accompnying vignettes.

Tuesday, August 3, 7pm – 8pm

Artist Ken Hawkey Hawkey will discuss his artistic process and the genesis for his solo exhibit, "A Journey through Beach Point." The exhibit, on display in the Anne Brock Community Room for the month of August, features 27 new works in acrylics and oils, all of which help tell the story of the unique neighborhood that bridges Truro and Provincetown. It is supported in part by a grant from the Truro Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Recycling Fun with Kim Torres

Wednesday, August 4, 6:30pm – 7:30pm

"Save the Planet" with Kim Torres of Elements, Etc. who will present recycling ideas for the whole family to try.

Museum Passes

Truro Public Library offers free or reduced-price admission passes to the following museums and places of interest:

Cahoon Museum of American Art, Cotuit.  Free admission for two.

Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis.  Free admission for two.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Brewster.  50% discount on general admission for four visitors.

Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.  Free admission.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Admission reduced to $5; limit of two people per pass (includes admission to all exhibits).

Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum, Provincetown.  Free admission, 2 adults plus 2 children.

Massachusetts Parks Pass. Entitles borrower to free parking for one vehicle at over 50 facilities in Massachusetts.

The Truro Public Library is pleased to offer Mango Languages, an online language-learning system, free of charge to our patrons who hold a Truro Library card.  The library is offering 6 languages: German, French, Italian, Russian, Portuguese (Brazilian) and Spanish (Latin American).
